Set for release on the 8th, Halo 2 for Microsoft's Vista operating system has been delayed yet again. The new release date is set for May 22, or six days after the Halo 3 beta is set to begin.
Although it is just another in a long series of delays for the game, it makes sense that in some way it would coincide with the Halo 3 beta launch. The Games for Windows Live team claims that the install experience needs to be optimized further. With the game being nearly three years old, and with the team's knowledge of a direct port always being in the cards, it's surprising that it took this long in the first place.
With so many delays, the real question remains: how many people have yet to play Halo 2 anyway? Even with the highly touted Live functionality and a collection of every released multiplayer map, it's a wonder as to who else besides die-hard Halo fans would be interested in this port of the game. On the 22nd of May, it appears that will we find out.
