Fans of the game Rock Band on either the Wii or PS2 have felt like they were left out in the cold when it was announced that no downloadable content would be available for their systems. It seems Harmonix has decided to appease their fans on these two consoles by offering a separate "track pack" set to release in July.
Today, the developer and its parent company, MTV Games announced that Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 will be hitting the shelves on July 15th. Rock Band on the Wii will ship June 22nd, so new tracks will be available for consumption just less than one month after release. Consumers can pick up the new tracks for $29.99.
Although this track pack is labeled "Volume 1", when MTV was questioned on the future of additional volumes, they did not confirm or deny their availability past the initial volume. A spokesperson stated, "
As of now, the Track Pack Volume 1 is our only confirmed offering for PS2 and Wii users. In terms of the possibility of future releases - we are leaving our options open."
Included on the disc are 20 songs that have already been made available to PS3 and Xbox 360 owners via DLC on their respective networks. Those tracks are:
30 Seconds to Mars - The Kill
All American Rejects - Move Along
Blink - 182 - All the Small Things
Boston - More Than a Feeling
David Bowie - Moonage Daydream
Faith No More - We Care A Lot
Grateful Dead - Truckin'
The Hives - Die, All Right!
KISS - Calling Dr. Love
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme' Three Steps
Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs
Oasis - Live Forever
Paramore - Crushcrushcrush
The Police - Synchronicity II
Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister
Ramones - Teenage Lobotomy
Smashing Pumpkins - Siva
Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Wolfmother - Joker & the Thief
While it's not as convenient as DLC in that consumers can pick and choose which songs they want to download, at least Harmonix is coming through for gamers on these systems. It seems the developer wants its fans to experience Rock Band to its fullest no matter which console they purchase it for.
