Jack Thompson further punished for misconduct

Anti-game crusader Jack Thompson faces a now permanent disbarment and 44,000 dollars in fines as a result of more misconduct charges. The charges stem primarily from his demeanor during suits filed against a game developers Take-Two over the alleged role of games like Grand Theft Auto influencing perpetrators of homicide.

Thompson has been one of the most vocal critics of video game violence in recent years, and has been a figure in nearly every memorable video game violence scandal. He campaigned against Take-Two's title Bully prior to it's release and was one of the numerous voices that spoke out against the content of Manhunt 2.

His often irrational conduct caught up with him in February 2007, when the Florida court system filed to disbar him. In May 2008, presiding judge Dava Tunis recommended Thompson be found guilty of 27 of the 31 charges filed against him, ranging from the humiliation of other lawyers to making untrue statements during tribunals. Thompson continued misconduct throughout his own hearings, eventually prompted court officials to suggest he receive an enhanced disbarment, lengthening the time he may not practice law from five years to ten.

Thompson has remained defiant throughout the proceedings but his objections seem to have fallen on deaf ears, much to the amusement of gamers long since tired of his antics.
