Though already out in Japan, it has been confirmed that a number of popular PS3 titles will be re-released in the United States at cheaper prices. Despite that the exact prices have yet to be been officially announced, it is probable that these games will cost slightly more than those in the PS2 greatest hits collection, which go for $20 each. PS3 owners will finally find relief from the $60 standard that has marked most of this generation's titles.
The Japanese series, entitled "PlayStation 3 the Best" currently retails at 39,980 JPY ($34) and includes Folklore, Resistance: Fall of Man, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ridge Racer and Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight. While more PS3 games will eventually be added to the U.S. collection, photos have confirmed that at least MotorStorm, Warhawk and Resistance will definitely see a re-release here in the States.
It should be interesting to see how prices compare to games in the Xbox 360's Platinum Hits collection, which was started in 2006, and currently carries a general price range of around $30. Since the Platinum Hits line was introduced, it has accounted for more than 16% of all software sales on the popular console.
