Helping to strengthen the arguable lackluster trophy system added in recent patches, BioShock designers 2K announced that the PS3 port will indeed include trophies that can be achieved throughout the game. They hope that the addition will help inspire gamers to come back to BioShock even after initial playthroughs to discover the games secrets and immerse themselves in its world.
The announcement is likely to please many PS3 owners who were disappointed to find out that despite the trophy system being added in a recent update, many of the currently released games don't support them.
In a blog post, Executive Producer of 2K Marin, Alyssa Finley wrote, "When considering how to use these Trophies to reward players, we chose to give a respectful nod to those few who desire a challenge. We believe that BioShock PS3 has a lot to offer in a single play through, but we wanted to emphasize and reward a player's second or third descent into Rapture. This led us to create new Trophies that encourage more advanced tactics and enemies that provide a greater challenge."
BioShock on the PlayStation 3 is slated for an October 2008 release date.
