With the tear-inducing news that the US won't be getting Nintendo's newest camera equipped DSi until "well into 2009", it leads one to ask, why? Well, in a recent interview with executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo, Cammie Dunaway, she feels that there is still "huge untapped potential for the DS Lite".
She goes on to say that; "Right now we're still working through what the strategy's going to be here. Because when you've got only one in every five households in the U.S., compared to one in every two in Japan, it says there's potential. You've seen some of the work we've done this year with celebrities, that we're bringing a lot of new consumers in to the DS".
While the DS Lite is currently enjoying good sales in US, Mrs. Dunway stated that "there's opportunity for both of them to coexist for some period of time". Whether or not gamers will want to empty their wallets for this newest handheld or hold on to their DS Lites remains to be seen.
