In the first bit of downloadable content for Crackdown, a new precedent has been set. With two separate packs, one being free and the other being "premium" (800 MS points), a downloadable expansion finally provides far more than shiny horse armor ever could.
The free pack comes with a lot of basic upgrades to the original game, like bug fixes. One of the new options is a cheat menu that is available without leaving the game. From here, a plethora of choices come up where you can max your characters level or spawn vehicles. There's also a new co-op option, where players can receive a special trophy when they complete things together.
Surprisingly, the real bread and butter comes with the premium "Gettin' Busy" pack. Although it's a full 800 points, the amount of upgrades included makes this expansion one of the few truly great downloadable additions to a console game. First, three new vehicles are included, one of which being a very fun to drive buggy. New street races have also been included to make the most of the new vehicles, along with a better way of keeping track of your success. Plus, there are new achievements in both packs, which effectively maxes the game out to its total amount of usable gamer points.
New weapons are also included. These include a minigun, a new style of rocket launcher, a cloaking device, proximity charge, and most importantly, a new gas powered harpoon. All of the new guns are actually fairly useful, but the harpoon is great. For instance, one of the new achievements involves stringing together a group of corpses from a moving vehicle. Rounding out the pack is the addition of a group of new game types. Each one adds to the overall experience, even though most seem to be made for co-op play.
