Recently,
CVG had a discussion with Forza Motorsport 2's director, Dan Greenwalt. The topic of conversation was the link between driving in a game and in real life. In Greenwalt's opinion, not only does driving in Forza make you a better driver, but it teachs you how to properly drive on a track as well.
Absolutely. I think the things you learn in Forza Motorsport apply in the real world. A lot of people can play other similar racing games - there are a lot of games that are kind of in the middle of sim and arcade - and they learn that if you're at the edge of traction and you brake, you'll get more turning. Well that's just not true, and it'll get you killed on a track. In that same article though, a member of the British School of Motoring claims that videogames are actually linked to worse driving. However, using Greenwalt's comment in that context is somewhat irrelevant, as he is speaking strictly of the Forza experience and that game alone, where as the BSM are talking about racing and driving games in general. There are a lot of other facts to take into account, but for now, CVG only has this much up.
